Careers Fair

On Friday 11th March, our team visited St Bernard’s Catholic School in Rotherham to attend a Careers Fair. We have received tremendous feedback from the school how the students spoke with such excitement and enthusiasm about the future. We are looking forward to attend more events at St Bernard’s and inspire future generations.

One of the staff members from the St Bernard’s, added:

“Thank you so much for supporting our Careers Fair. We feel the day was a real success and we couldn’t have achieved this without your time and support. The feedback from the students, staff and yourselves has been overwhelmingly positive. It was great to hear the students talk with such excitement and enthusiasm about the future!”

Have a Go Day

Earlier in the year, our apprentices delivered presentations to Years 10 and 11 students at local schools, on the subject of careers in the construction industry and to promote apprenticeships. As a follow-up from this, we invited a group of students to visit our yard in Ripley on Thursday 28th and Friday 29th April.

We had 27 students over the 2 days. One school from Loughborough, and one from Rotherham. As part of the visit, students were given an induction on health and safety and were made aware of the rules for working in a construction environment, including a tour of the yard.

The students took part in a series of ‘have-a-go’ activities based around different equipment used in the construction industry. This included having a go on our 20T Excavator, 3CX, a Roller, a Tipper Truck, and a Loading Shovel. Students were also given information about HGVs and the transportation of equipment, as well as the chance to speak to a variety of experts employed in the construction trade.

One of the students parents from the De Lisle College, added:

“Our son visited today. Just wanted him to say thank you for having him on-site. He received the latest info on apprenticeships. He had a great day and a real insight into the industry. Please send my thanks onto those involved for taking time out of their day!”
