Carl Roberts Retirement
This month marks the end of an era as we say goodbye to our Managing Director, Carl Roberts, and the man who is CR himself.
Twenty three years ago, in March 2000, Carl started the company with nothing but ambition, a few good friends, and a transit van. In the years that followed, he has worked hard to inspire those around him with a passion for both the industry and his employees at the forefront of everything he does. Carl’s invaluable knowledge and leadership successfully grew the company into a multi-million turnover business with over 200 members of staff employed.
From all of us, we want to wish you a happy and healthy retirement spent with family and friends. Thank you for everything you’ve done for so many people. You have been a great boss and an even greater man, leaving CR Civil Engineering with a legacy that is nothing short of inspiring.
“I’ve spent twenty three years at CR Civil Engineering, five years at Redland/Lafarge, and eleven years at Shepherd Hill. Over the years, my construction career has been fantastic, driven by challenges, hard work and ambition to succeed. CR Civil Engineering has always been about the people and everyone trying their best to be friendly, fair and as honest as possible. One of the most rewarding things about CR Civil Engineering has been seeing so many people develop and succeed. From Trainees, Labourers ang Groundworkers to Foreman, Supervisors, Project Managers, and Directors; also so many Apprentices to Bid Writers, Engineers, Plant Ops, Quantity Surveyors, and more.
On a personal note, it has been my absolute pleasure to manage the business. I could not be prouder of what we have achieved. One of our best achievements has been the introduction of Beth to Matt and them giving myself and Mandy two beautiful grandchildren.
Matt Ball will now be stepping into the Managing Director role with the same Senior Management team and support from RSK Group, and CR Civil Engineering has never been stronger. To my many friends, colleagues and associates, I wish you all the best in everything the future brings.”
