The 5% Club

We are delighted to announce that we have been recognised with The 5% Club Gold Award through the 2021 Employer Audit Scheme. Achieving gold recognises our contribution to the continued development of all our employees through “earn & learn” schemes such as Apprenticeships, Graduate Schemes and Sponsored Students Course Placements.

Construction Presentation

On Thursday 18th November, our team visited St Bernard’s Catholic School in Rotherham to deliver a presentation to 150 students, aged 13-14. The presentation was aimed to educate the younger generation on what the construction industry is really about. We showed the students the different types of careers available, the opportunities that are out there for them, and who CR Civil Engineering are and what we do.

As we all know, there are many stigmas associated with the construction industry, which has an impact on the diversity of the workforce. We hope to start conversations for students to engage themselves in the construction industry.

We are excited to announce that we will be visiting six more schools in the new year to deliver our presentation.

In addition, we are offering to take 15 students on a school trip to our Ripley Yard for them to see us in action, and gain a little experience of what the construction industry is all about. These students will be selected once we have presented to all of the schools and when the students have completed our quiz.

The Good Youth Employment Charter

We are proud to have signed the Good Youth Employment Charter; identifying our commitment to supporting youngsters with employment opportunities and work experience.

Since 2012, we have employed 57 apprentices, of which 79% remain at the Company flourishing in their careers at CR Civil Engineering. Over the years we have supported many local schools, by providing mock interviews, real life civil engineering based tasks, school trips to our operational yard and more. We are constantly finding new ways to encourage and support the younger generation into the construction industry.
