New Vehicles

We have recently purchased a large order of vehicles, which includes two new surfacing crew vans, six-pick ups, six 9-seater mini buses, ten box vans, tractor units, and four 7.5-tonne lorries.

Honourable Mention

In the early hours of Saturday 17th September 2022, our groundworker, Nicholas, was driving home to South Wales after completing a week’s work on the M40/42. Halfway into his 160-mile journey, Nicholas witnessed a man lying on the carriageway face down with people surrounding him.

Using his initiative, Nick put on his hazard beacons and blocked the road before approaching the casualty and administering emergency first aid. Nick attempted to stem the flow of blood from the injured person’s head and face. The police and ambulance arrived within the hour, and an air ambulance was called to assist.

CR Civils very proud of the way Nick conducted himself – a tremendous pat on the back. Nick is an ex-Royal Marine Commando and has been an employee of CR Civils for 4 years.

Have a Go Day

Earlier in the year, our team visited Madani School Federation to deliver a presentation about the construction industry and to set a challenge about the construction industry and set a challenge for the students to design an electric car park. Our team selected two winning groups that produced the most creative car park design and answered our mathematical quiz with the most marks.

On the 27th to 28th of October, CR Civils invited the two winning groups from Madani School to visit our Yard to ‘have-a-go’ on our plant. In total, we had 26 students over the two days. As part of the visit, students were given an induction on health and safety and were made aware of the rules for working in a construction environment, including a tour of the yard. Not to mention, we provided manual handling training and face fit testing to a few students which provide an insight into the industry’s training.

The students took part in a series of ‘have-a-go’ activities based on different equipment used in the construction industry. This included having a go on our 20T 360 Excavator, and a Ride on Roller. They also observed a loading shovel, a dumper, a rubber duck, and a telehandler being operated. As always, the students were given information about HGVs and the transportation of equipment, as well as the chance to speak to a variety of experts employed in construction.
