STEM Education

This month, we had the privilege of supporting the innovative research and education initiatives of WMG – University of Warwick, on behalf of SMP Alliance. WMG is renowned for its seamless integration of collaborative research and development with education programs, particularly in applied science, technology, and engineering.

At the heart of our engagement with WMG was the emphasis on promoting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education, a mission that lies at the core of the SMP Alliance’s endeavours. As we delved into discussions on the integration of STEM in the construction industry, it was evident that nurturing talent in these events is important for shaping the future landscape of industry and innovation.

A representative from the Royal Academy of Engineering stated:

“Engineering is essential for the future prosperity and economic growth of the UK, with engineering-related sectors contributing at least £280 billion in gross value added to the UK economy. Some 52% of engineering companies are currently recruiting engineers at technician level and above, with over half of those experiencing difficulties in recruiting the experienced engineers they need. Demand for people with higher skills is expected to rise significantly over the following years.”

One of the highlights of our day was our interaction with the Degree Apprenticeship Centre (DAC). We had the opportunity to provide information and guidance to aspiring young minds who are considering career paths in the construction industry.

We are grateful for the opportunity to be part of this journey towards shaping tomorrow’s engineers and look forward to continuing our efforts in empowering the next generation of STEM leaders.
